

A cast of voice actors, audio effects and occasional backing music really help bring the story to life. GA's version is expensive (~£100 per book!) but well worth the investment in this case, if you can afford it. Audible have a version of this which is decent.however, Graphic Audio also has one. It is worth dwelling on the source here as well. Magic/swordplay/politics feel nicely balanced, and there are some truly fantastic battle scenes which left both my SO and I swept away. There are multiple characters you'll find yourself looking forward to reading about, but thankfully equally enough you likely won't want to skip straight past. TSA is an epic fantasy series with a grand setting, following story arcs ranging from kings to commoners. #2 The Stormlight Archive (TSA), by Brandon Sanderson & narrated by MANY on Graphic Audio.īrandon Sanderson is a renowned powerhouse when it comes to fantasy stories, with dozens of successful stories published. I repeatedly found myself finding excuses to do chores around the house so I could listen as I work - which is always a clear sign of enjoyment for me! Fair warning: be prepared for being left hanging for part 3/3 You will soon find yourself rooting for the main character.

Just the right balance of magic, wits and swordplay - along with great world-building and a really absorbing writing style. The narrator's voice is sublime, and I felt Rupert did a fantastic job capturing the essence of the characters.

If you haven't heard of this series, I'd strongly recommend checking it out - it is by far my favourite fantasy series of all time. #1 The Kingkiller Chronicle, by Patrick Rothfuss & narrated by Rupert Degas on Audible. Naturally, I will do my best to avoid spoilers and stick to broad strokes. Hopefully it will point some of you toward the fantastic listening experiences I've had with these over the last few years.
